Looking for student accommodation
Traditionally, most existing students find their accommodation for the subsequent academic year before the summer, renting the property from July for one year.
If the property they select is in demand, they are also likely to still have to sign a binding fixed term 12 month contract at that stage unless they can negotiate a better deal.
As there is a surplus of privately rented student accommodation in most cities you should not feel pressured into taking a decision too early or paying too much.
Agents advertise early to create the false impression of an artificial shortage of properties before many landlords have even decided which properties are available.
