How to get a student credit card
Getting a student credit card really isn't a problem! Most high street banks and building societies supply them. You can also student credit cards from foreign banks and companies.
Overseas entrants to the UK market in recent years include US banks Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and People's Bank.
You can compare credit cards across the market and sign up to one online if you wish using our student credit card comparison.
Being given a card is entirely at the issuer's discretion. They will do a credit check on you and, if satisfied with your risk profile, will probably send you a card. But they might also decline.
Some issuers, especially the new Internet start-up banks, have very specific target markets for their products. If you don't meet their customer profile, they won't give you a card.
