Students are finding university life difficult due to financial woes, according to students in London who contacted Student-Finance UK directly in a plea for help.
Costs for accommodation, especially in London, and debt coupled with trying to have a social life and leaving students short of cash. This is causing many students to get jobs during their university courses - possibly affecting the grades they are then able to attain, said Asif Imran, of Imperial College London.
Many students, including Medicine students, are finding the burden of student debt such a problem it's putting them off before they've even started their course, claimed Imran.
Student top up fees have been in place since 2006, with students having to pay an increased tuition fee compared to students the year before. This caused an increase in UCAS applications in 2005. Many students have claimed to have been put off by the high amount of debt they ascertain before entering university.
It appears that the finance situation is something that students are demanding reforms on.
